Magic Moments: 2017

It was another incredible year for AquaX and there were so many unbelievable moments. We've put together five of the best for you to enjoy!

There's been a fair share of incidents this year, none more so dramatic than at the first round in Daytona Beach between Chris MacClugage and Brian Baldwin.

Back racing as part of RIVA Racing after a fall out with Dean's Team in 2016, Baldwin had a point to prove heading into the opening round of the season, whilst MacClugage was looking to get off to the perfect defence of his title.

Having taken race one, MacClugage landed the holeshot in race two and looked set for an easy time in front. However, the champ dug his nose in on the first time, stopping sharply in front of Baldwin who luckily avoided his former teammate but ripped off his seat in the incident.

Incredibly, MacClugage was able to stay in front and completed his second victory of the weekend in what would be a clean sweep to start the season.

The first ever race weekend of the AquaX Euro Tour took place in Agon-Coutainville, France back in June and it was the beginning of an incredible European season for British racer Joe Harvey.

Perhaps his finest moment came in race three, when he managed to overtake race leader Rainer Eidner on the final lap in order to complete a clean sweep of victories.

Another dramatic moment, another moment featuring MacClugage and Baldwin. This time no contact, just incredible racing.

With another clean sweep on the line for MacClugage in Islamorada, Baldwin looked to have got the better of his rival in race two, leading with less than a lap to go.

But out of nowhere came MacClugage who took advantage of a slow final corner for the leader and bolted into the lead on the final stretch, taking a spectacular victory by just a boat length.

Sometimes you just know when someone is a little bit special and we witnessed that this year in the form of amateur 250 racer Christian Daly in Whiting and Chicago.

The son of former Formula One racer Derek Daly, Christian made his ability on a jet ski crystal clear to all in Whiting as he pushed pro racer Jay Edworthy close in the opening race of the North East Series in Whiting.

He continued to do so all weekend long and was at it again in rough conditions in Chicago before catching a huge wave that sent his ski to the right at a 90 degree angle to the water.

Unbelievably the young star managed to cling on and save himself from taking a swim, however, the force of the incident saw Daly break his leg and he was forced to retire from the race and the weekend.

Daly would go on to take the 250 class title at the Amateur Internationals in Key West.

There can be only one 'magic moment' to top our list and that is Brian Baldwin being crowned the first ever AquaX World Champion in Key West.

He battled back from an opening race third to land victories in race two and three to take the title from fellow RIVA Racing riders Eric Francis and Nicolas Rius.

First thing the champ did? He went to Disney World!
