Powerboat P1, the rights holder for the P1 AquaX personal watercraft racing series, has announced the cancellation its UK Championship and EuroTour race events scheduled to take place before the end of July due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. This decision affects events at West Bay next month, Torquay in June and Colwyn Bay in July.
A decision on the event in Blankenberge on the Belgian coast for Enduro and Sprint riders scheduled for 22-23 August will be taken on 15 July.
“Unfortunately, the UK events will not be postponed to later this year due to scheduling issues, so for European riders the first chance to qualify for the Bahamas World Championship will take place in Blankenberge,” explained Lisa Barsby. “We appreciate that this announcement will be very disappointing for everyone involved in the series, but like all sports at this time we are having to make some tough decisions as a result of the coronavirus crisis and people’s health and well-being is very much the top priority.”
Powerboat P1 will continue to closely monitor the situation in Belgium and act on information from official health authorities at both a local and national level.
