Thunder On Cocoa Beach Cancelled

Official Media Release!

In response to safety concerns arising from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thunder on Cocoa Beach, featuring Offshore powerboat and AquaX racing, scheduled for August 29th and 30th has been cancelled. After consulting with the board of directors of the offshore race committee, Kerry Bartlett, Managing Director of Thunder on Cocoa Beach, announced the decision to cancel today.

“This decision is out of pure concern for the safety of our racers and fans,” Kerry said. “The port (Port Authority, Canaveral) was supposed to let us know on June 28 if we were a go. That is Sunday, so I reached out to them earlier this week and they told me they would prefer us to reschedule for next year. We agreed with their guidance. After talking with members of the board and several sponsors, we decided it was best not to push it this year. The 2021 event is scheduled for May 22nd and 23rd and promises to come back bigger and better.”

P1 CEO, Azam Rangoonwala, stated, “We are obviously disappointed by the news, but we remain confident in the continued growth of AquaX both in the USA and globally. We are working diligently to ensure the 2021 season will be robust and exciting for the competitors, sponsors and spectators.”
